“My life is focused and centered on my art. I immerse myself in the process of creating and painting things based on my perception of reality.”
As a child growing up in 1960s Southern California, the coastline formed Starlie Sokol-Hohne’s artistic memory. In high school she focused on her art classes and feels fortunate to have had teachers and family who valued her gift of creativity, encouraging her to express her emotions through art.
“Nature has, and always will be, my greatest inspiration; my strongest and most faithful teacher.” In it, she finds shapes, colors, and textures that she revisits in her creations. She is interested in the atmospheric effects of the vast expanses of color, filling the canvas, and by suggestion, beyond it to infinity.
Photography and technology play a large part in her achievement of expression.
