Ling was born and grew up in China, and now works as an artist in London. After she finished her MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, University of the Arts London, she chose to become an illustrator because she likes the idea that her creations could be shared and used in people’s daily lives – and given and shared by loved ones.
Her floral designs are inspired by the language of flowers. Each flower represents a different message, and is a perfect way to convey how much people mean to each other. Her watercolour drawings give the traditional Chinese watercolour paintings a contemporary edge by adding a textile and flat graphical element. She incorporates subtle color changes which provide a more artistic, rather than realistic, interpretation.
Ling has had much success in art and design - being exhibited and selling her works in numerous galleries in both London and Beijing, and having works collected by the largest contemporary art museum (Today Art Museum) in China. In addition, her drawings formed part of Alexander McQueen’s 2011 global retail collection.
