Receiving formal education in both fine art and graphic design, Luanne D'Amico draws on knowledge of both to create paintings which combine realism with strong composition and design elements. She calls her style "decorative realism". Luanne began working exclusively with colored pencil early on in her career. She builds multiple layers of pencil, blending at times with a brush and burnishing the final layers until her works achieve an oil painting type finish. With colored pencil she is able to give her paintings the luminosity of oils, yet capture subtle detail. Florals and still life featuring vintage elements are continuing themes in Luanne's artwork. Her pieces have won many awards and have been featured in several books and magazines. Luanne lives on a farm with her family, a few pigs and many chickens. An avid gardener, she has planted extensive vegetable, fruit and flower gardens, all from which she draw much inspiration.
