"Being from New York, Elle Summers was influenced by both the dramatic ambiance of the city and the peaceful solitude of the country where her family escaped each summer. It was this juxtaposition of hard and soft, dark and light that led her to study abroad in Europe. Specializing in textile design, Elle's sought after collections are influenced by the elements that surround her. ""The beauty of nature, historical artifacts and architecture amaze and inspire me. All I have to do is look around to find that one spark that illuminates my next piece."" Recognized for her use of patterns and techniques found in antique hand-painted fabrics, textiles and wallpaper, Elle works mainly in mixed media, acrylic and glazes. She now lives in the Hudson River Valley where, when she is not creating, she peruses her other loves on gardening and refinishing vintage furniture."
