Having grown up in places as varied as Mexico City, Texas, New York and Montreal, Paulo Romero has always found inspiration in the uniqueness of his surroundings. "I do not have to go far to look for subject matter since the objects and people around me continue to prove fascinating to observe and depict". In his paintings, he strives to capture the essence of what makes his subjects unique through the expressive gesture of the brushstroke.
Paulo lives in the Pacific Northwest, where he enjoys experiencing the coastal landscape in walks with his sons who observe shapes, colour, and tiny details, and show him how to see the world in unique and refreshing ways.
Paulo's collections have been shown in prominent galleries and are part of collections throughout North America and Europe. He has received the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshield Award for figurative art, and Grants for photography.
